This week we are going to focus on building things with CARDBOARD! {Also, if you are looking for some ideas for things to make for Mother's Day, you will find some ideas in this week's Make it Monday video} Watch the Make it Monday Video HERE - This video will give you some inspiration for building things with Cardboard. 1. Create a plan for what you will build with cardboard. 2. Make sure you talk to an adult about your plan, and make sure they approve it! (and know if you will need their help to cut cardboard. Please do not use a box cutter without supervision!) 3. Build your creation from materials (mostly cardboard) found around home. {Hint: You might want to watch the Watch It Wednesday video early this week so that you can learn some unique ways to work with cardboard!} Feel free to make your creation beautiful with colors and design! 4. {optional, but I can't wait to see your IDEAS!} PRESENT YOUR WORK: Open the Google Slide for your grade below and edit the NEXT slide. Insert a picture of your creation, as well as your name and teacher name. If you are collaborating with a family member, be sure to share it in both grade level slide! TALK ABOUT IT TUESDAY - Sometimes when things are shipped they come in a box, and sometimes they come in a padded envelope. Talk about why you might choose one type of packaging over another. Brainstorm a list of things that you would send in a padded envelope, and some things that you would have to put in a box to ship.
WATCH IT WEDNESDAY - Check out this video of fun science demonstrations: HERE This week we are going to be showing you 10 different ways to manipulate cardboard to create really cool different effects.
THINK ABOUT IT THURSDAY- Count how many cardboard boxes you have in your pantry or the place where you keep your food. A box has how many faces (those are the flat areas that we usually call sides.)? A box has how many corners? A box has how many edges?
FIND IT FRIDAY - Looking for something fun to end the week, check out this Boxitect themed scavenger hunt!
